Daughter of a farmer, Karina is a low vision student studying in a Govt. School Bhagalpur, Bihar. Karina found it difficult to cope with school. HCL Foundation with Sightsavers India identified her in 2018. She was supported with a mobile phone loaded with e- textbooks and special audio software for Children with Visual Impairment. She was also provided training on how to read course material in her device. After continuous practice Karina showed remarkable improvement and performed well in the class. Now she is able to use her mobile to read E-textbooks and to make notes. Tele education models were introduced and continuous support was provided during the lockdown phase to ensure that no challenge could hinder her growth. Karina successfully passed the 10th board examination with first division. She aspires to become a government school teacher.
