Our Presence

Already committed INR 79.25 Crore (~US$10.83 Million) towards Rural Development in the areas of Environment, Health & Education through current HCL Grant Projects with an ambition to reach 22,17,931 people in 9,464 villages in 84 districts across 18 states and 2 union territories of India of which the projects have already covered 8,40, 271 beneficiaries.

Bal Raksha Bharat: (2020 Recipient)

  • Baseline study of 60 intervention schools in Budgam and Leh
  • Establishment of Child protection mechanism through installation of Suggestion box, Children Group and SMC/VEC Registers in all 60 intervention schools of Budgam and Leh
  • Community based awareness programme on peace Education and school attendance significance conducted in 30 schools/village of budgam and 23 schools/villages of Leh
  • Formation of children’s group and School Management committee / Village Education Committees in 30 schools/Villages of Budgam and 15 schools/villages of district Leh
  • Strengthening of Children’s Group (CG’s) and SMC’s across 30 schools of budgam and 16 schools of Leh respectively on Peace Education, Child Rights and Child protection
  • Back to school Campaign in intervention villages/communities of Budgam and Leh (Enrolment drive in district budgam in close coordination with Education Department. Around 72 children were enrolled in intervention schools in budgam, 100 days’ campaign on Education)
  • Identification and Mapping and 60 School in Budgam and Leh in coordination with Education Dept. of UT of Ladakh and Kashmir.
  • Consistent advocacy meetings with Education Dept. Kashmir and Ladakh on support of project activities (signing of MoU and administrative approval)
  • Advocacy on Back to School campaign and technical support to govt. through sharing guidelines
  • Development of draft Module on CSSS (Comprehensive School Safety and Security) and SOPS.

Bal Raksha Bharat: (2020 Recipient)

Key Achievements

Under The Mango Tree Society: (2020 Recipient)

  • A total 1,194 farmers sensitized about indigenous bees.
  • Of the 260 farmers trained in beekeeping, 230 have been converted to beekeepers (88% conversion).
  • 165 farmers impacted with bee-flora intervention.
  • Quick digitization of processes due to mobility restrictions with the outbreak of COVID. This helped in accelerating project activities to match the actual project timeline. The project activities were accelerated with relaxation in mobility (wherever possible).
  • Utilize mobile technology at hand for repeated and regular follow-up of all stakeholders.
  • Strengthening and expanding local networks to support the programme and maximize its outreach.
  • 3 articles on the importance of indigenous bees for agriculture, biodiversity were featured in Mint, The Hindu and Economic Times on World Bee Day (May 20, 2020)

Srijan Foundation (2019 Recipient)

  • 150 Community Resource Persons (CRPs) are educated and made aware on the significance of adopting various models of sustainable agricultural practices and livestock management practices.
  • 5010 women farmers are educated and made aware on the significance of adopting various models of sustainable agricultural practices and livestock management practices by imparting trainings in classroom environment through verbal trainings, demonstrations and video shows.
  • Holistic nutritional diet is ensured due to the availability of 8 to 10 varieties of nutritious vegetables round the year
  • Practice oriented Training on Organic Fertilizers & Pesticides (INM/IPM/NPM) for 2,000 Women farmers
  • 1700+ women farmers trained on Animal Husbandry & Livestock Management (Housing, Fodder, Vaccination)
  • Establishment of Village level INM-NPM Shop across 19 villages
  • 76 families linked with Government Department for dry ration, agricultural input, MGNREGA, Didi Kitchen

Key Achievements

She Hope Society for Women Entrepreneur: (2019 Recipient)

  • 1000+ people provided with rehabilitation support in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, aids & appliances.
  • 50 houses made inclusive & accessible through Low cost home modification techniques enabling PWDs becoming self-dependent.
  • 385 PWDs has been referred to hope center by 110 frontline  (ASHA/Anganwadi) workers oriented on early identification, prevention of disability and appropriate referral.
  • 145 PWDs has been helped to get their rights and entitlements from different Govt. departments.

Wildlife Trust of India: (2019 Recipient)

  • 600 + Hectares land has been obtained with “No Objection Certificate” to bring the land under afforestation through plantation and Assisted Natural Regeneration.
  • Through camera trap method : 50 species of (birds) have been recorded indicating rejuvenation of forest ecosystem.
  • Computer Centre established at Halwa Ambeng Village benefitting 5 nearby villages- Approx. 80-100 students and youth.
  • Three (03) fishery pond rejuvenated providing boost to livelihood of 112 families at Halwa Ambeng and panda village.

Royal Commonwealth Society for Blind – Sightsavers India: (2018 Recipient)

  • 43 CVIs passed class 10 th & 12 th examination (10 th - 33 and 12 th – 10) of which 65% are female students.
  • Govt. of Bihar scaled up HCL-Sightsavers “Tele-Education Model” in entire State.
  • 56,000+ Government school teachers have been trained on inclusive Pedagogy (Exemplar module) in Bihar, through government support.
  • Govt. of Rajasthan incorporated average budget of INR 4,00,000/ model resource rooms for CWSN across 33 districts.
  • Successful advocacy and demonstration has led Government of Rajasthan making regular provisions for laptops for 100 CVIs in secondary education in Annual Work Plan & Budget of Inclusive Education cell of SMSA, Rajasthan covering all 33 districts

Eleutheros Christian Society: (2018 Recipient)

  • To monitor the progress of health centers, a state level “Health Steering Committee” has been formed, chaired by the Chief Secretary, Nagaland with ECS & HCL Foundation as a part of board member.
  • 12 health centers of have been revived under PPP model benefitting 33,000+ people .
  • PHC Changlangshu and PHC Longpang conferred with Kayakalp Award (best PHC in their respective districts) and also been empaneled with Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
  • Govt. of Nagaland extended pre-school program extended to 110 villages.
  • ECS was listed among India’s Top 50 COVID-19 Last Mile Responders by the World Economic Forum
  • 139 Mother’s Health Club have been formed in villages to create awareness on health for pregnant women and lactating mothers

Keystone Foundation: (2018 Recipient)

  • Keystone Foundation on boarded at District level association “The Nilgiris District Organic Farming Association”, to make The Nilgiris - an Organic district.
  • Water security plan implemented in 10 villages of Kotagiri, Aracode, and Kookalthorai benefitting ~2000 HHs
  • 200 acres of fallow lands (covered with invasive thickets) converted into arable lands through plantation of 73,706 saplings of indigenous grasses, sedges, and shola species.
  • ~15 acres of area brought under organic farming with 22 farmers participating in the initiative.
  • ~4 tons of plastics, bottles, clothes and other mixed waste were collected from the stream bank - Kookalthorai valley.

Key Achievements

MelJol (2017 Recipient)

  • 375 teacher’s training programmes, training 2,241 teachers, from 753 schools.
  • 772 orientation training programmes with school  principals to strengthen ownership
  • Formation of 2,151 Aflatoun clubs in 763 schools.
  • Formation of 1,777 Aflatoun Banks with 78,110  account holders across 727 schools
  • 3,911 children from 79 schools across five  districts collectively contributed Rs. 66,000 from their Aflatoun bank savings for the Kerala Disaster  Relief Fund.
  • 21,337 students opened their first formal bank  account 866 students from Pune and Yavatmal districts  opted to pay the premium to buy insurance cover  for their families from their Aflatoun Bank savings,  covering approximately 4,000 individuals

MelJol (2017 Recipient)

Key Achievements

Child In Need Institute (2017 Recipient)

  • 2810 ANMs and 2964 ASHAs across 46 blocks were trained on Maternal Nutrition by CINI. Identification of BMI to understand the nutritional status of 46,884 pregnant women were identified by ANMs for the 1 st time in the state of West Bengal with technical support from CINI.
  • 699 stunted and 929 underweight children were tracked, counseled and provided supplements using a web-based application.
  • The team was honored to present the project learnings in 4 National level Implementation research Conference titled “Delivering for Nutrition in India: Insights from Implementation Research”, hosted by NITI AYOG & IFPRI.
  • CINI in collaboration with Department of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal and HCL Foundation launched the technical group on maternal nutrition on the eve of International Women's day.

Foundation for Ecological Security (2017 Recipient)

  • 20 Government issued Orders vand Letters enabled Landscape level plans to be incorporated  into village and Panchayat level NREGA plans.
  • 15,444 Village Institution Committee Members  trained
  • 619 village institutions placed under the Gram  Panchayats and Gram Sabhas to get  constitutional recognition
  • 24,249 HHs ensured access to Social Security  schemes
  • 651 village institutions using CLART (Composite  Land Assessment Restoration Tool), implementing the plans under MGNREGA
  • 4,373.41 lacs (audited) leveraged for ecological  restoration
  • 52 conservation plots are under ecological  monitoring which has lead to build evidence to claim 30% increase in Biomass in the common  land.
  • 65,672 acres common land brought under community  conservation
