Our Journey

In 2021, HCL Foundation completed a decade of stewardship and creating socio-economic-environmental impact. A brief overview of this journey is given below:

  • In 2011, the Foundation took its first tentative steps into the world of development through its corporate social responsibility commitments. Driven primarily by its employees, the Foundation started by establishing a bold charter for itself – to break the cycle of poverty by building resilient individuals and resilient communities.
  • Though HCL Foundation officially came about in 2011, its humanitarian journey pre-dates its inception. Our CSR efforts commenced with volunteers contributing time and funds towards community development under ‘Power of One’
  • To meet its mission – the Foundation walked a path less travelled. Carving its way deep into the country, it interacted with communities excluded from the development process.
  • Connecting the dots - between programme and impact; between policy and implementation; between investment and deployment, HCL Foundation identified gaps, partnered with communities and on ground NGOs to co-create winning solutions and, turned vulnerabilities into opportunities.
  • HCL Foundation plays an enabling role, recognizing the power of people to script their own story of change and lets communities take charge of their future.

10-Year Milestone of HCL Foundation

  • 2010- Though HCL Foundation officially came about in 2011, its humanitarian journey pre-dates its inception. Our CSR efforts commenced with volunteers contributing time and funds towards community development under ‘Power of One.’
  • 2011HCL Foundation was registered and established as the CSR arm of HCL Technologies.
  • 2014 – As an outcome of HCL's commitment to uplift rural India, HCL Samuday was initiated to develop a sustainable, scalable, and replicable model - a source code for rural development. Officially rolled out in 2015.
  • 2015HCL Grant was launched with an aim to recognize path breaking models of rural development through a robust methodology and empower the Fifth Estate (NGOs) of India. It is HCL’s extraordinary CSR commitment towards Nation Building.
  • 2015 – Fuelled by passionate HCLites, Sports for Change was also launched to promote excellence and holistic development through the medium of sports at the grassroots.
  • 2016 – In line with HCL’s mandate of 'giving back', HCL Uday started operation across 11 HCL cities with an aim to strengthen the socio-economic ecosystem of communities and break the cycle of urban poverty using an integrated community development approach.
  • 2018 - HCL Foundation Academy was launched as a virtual learning hub– bringing best practices and new thinking to accelerate development on the ground. The Academy offers courses to development practitioners and seeds collaborative models of change.
  • 2019 - Clean Noida is HCL’s commitment to transform Noida into one of the cleanest cities in the world. It works at all levels of waste management including collection, transportation, and processing of waste.
  • Adding in 2021 - Harit – The Green Initiative by HCL Foundation. This initiative epitomises HCL Foundation’s response to rapidly unfolding crisis of environmental degradation. It aims to conserve, restore, and enhance both micro and macro environmental ecosystems, reversing the impact of climate change.
