‘We’ve seen in our work across projects and
geographies that art has transcended barriers
of language, ability and literacy. It has been
a natural medium for children across the
domains of education, holistic wellness
and self-expression. When reaching out to
children from vulnerable communities, art
has been a link to build relationships and
provide care,’ says Sriram V Ayer, Founder &
CEO, NalandaWay Foundation.
Studies have shown that the impact of
arts in children’s development is tremendous
– it fosters leadership skills, teamwork,
better communication and problem solving.
NalandaWay’s programmes are embedded
within communities, designed according to
their inputs and needs.
NalandaWay’s strategies encompass
creation of innovative, engaging, art-based
resources (workbooks, audio stories, videos)
digitized for wider access, training and
empowering school teachers and leaders on
mental health first aid, partnering with CBOs
and other grassroots organizations for better
mobilisation, sensitising parents and other
stakeholders, and much more. NalandaWay
nurtures the children in its programmes –
from urban slums, rural areas, in childcare
institutions, anganwadis, government and
corporation schools, tribal children and more
– moulding them into hopeful, resilient and
fearless individuals.
