SANMAT helps develop a just,
participatory and peaceful society
based on strong democratic values,
women’s empowerment, education
for all, health and livelihood
generation. The organization
undertakes development initiatives
to improve the quality of life of
marginalsed communities. Because
of SANMAT’s interventions,
33000 students benefitted through
the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme;
28 lakh tribal and marginalized
people were treated through tribal
welfare hospitals; 6 million plants
were planted through social forestry;
2,12,00 people were given the
COVID-19 vaccine; and nutritional
screening of 40,000 tribal children
was completed.

money and time to create a unique organization
called Sri Someswar Nath Mahadev Trust
(SANMAT). It was founded to close the gap
between the government’s well-intentioned
policies and the intended beneficiaries of
those policies. is includes implementation
of schemes for food and material assistance
in Tamil Nadu, healthcare in Jharkhand, and
education and MGNREGA in Bihar. SANMAT’s
commitment of operating and managing
charitable hospitals in Jharkhand has helped in
the treatment of lakhs of tribal people thus far.
One such story is of Maloti Marandi, from
the Santal tribe. She had lost her mother to
diseases caused by diabetes and did not want
the same fate for herself. A local administrator
recommended that she consult a doctor at
Kalyan Hospital, Kathikund, managed by
SANMAT, for blood sugar tests and treatment
of her other symptoms. She says,’ I’m rewriting
my future. Other than good medicines, their
medical team provided me with an education
about diabetes combined with practical
advice for better nutrition, exercise, stress
management, and problem-solving. ree

pre-diabetic.’
