of marginalized people. The
organization’s mission is to create
a healthier and equitable world
by empowering communities. Its
principles include participation of
people, education and health for
all, and emancipation of the weaker
sections of society. Through MANT,
since 2007, more than 15 million
people have received healthcare
services and more than 1,50,000
adolescent girls have been reached
through adolescent intervention
programmes.

their people. is project is just one of the
initiatives of Manbhum Ananda Ashram
Nityananda Trust (MANT), a pioneering
organization that works with the tribal
communities who are the custodians of the
abundant forests, rivers and biodiversity of
the eastern-most part of India.
MANT was formed by a group of
committed young people who first worked
to improve education opportunities for
underserved populations in Purulia district.
Surmounting formidable challenges like
location, gender, language, class, and culture,
MANT broadened its interventions to include
research and action for healthcare, preservation
of local ecology and empowering communities
to take ownership and lead the change.
MANT uses collaborations and partnerships
with the government (like mobile health
clinics), policy shaping agencies, universities,
community media, cultural activities and more
to intensify the impact of its programmes.
