e Annual Status of Education Survey (ASER) and National Achievement Survey (NAS)
reports clearly show that Chhattisgarh lags in the national average significantly in both language
and mathematics. e lack of familiarity of the language used as the medium of instruction
when children join school is a major factor in the low learning levels in tribal areas like Bastar.
is Project is helping demonstrate a scalable model of multilingual education that improves
foundational learning and supports the state government’s efforts at implementing quality
multilingual education throughout the state in accordance with the National Education Policy
(NEP), 2020 and the Foundational Literacy and Numeracy Mission.
• ‘Multilingual Education’ curriculum reached 200 primary schools
across 134 Gram Panchayats of Bastar,Chhattisgarh
• 49% of the teachers are using children’s home language and applying
multilingual teaching learning practices.
• Higher participation (79%) of students in classroom activities
