INNOVATION
Pollinators and bees are a vital part of our ecosystems – responsible not just for food security
of humans but also all living beings. As IPBES reports of the UN point out, pollinators
are under threat worldwide and declining due to multiple factors – use of pesticides,
deforestation, commercial agriculture and unsustainable practises like honey hunting.
e Project focuses on creating awareness on indigenous bees leading to not just their
conservation but also creating a supportive ecosystem where they can thrive among 5190
smallholders in tribal communities in Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. e
Project aims for increased agricultural yields for smallholders due to better pollination along
with a range of supportive activities in the ecosystem.
Under The Mango Tree Society
• 4,089 farmers from tribal communities in Maharashtra, Gujarat and
Madhya Pradesh sensitized on bee conservation
• 1,544 people trained in sustainable beekeeping
