policy making and scaling up to reach large
populations with proven solutions,’ says Dr.
Bitra George, ounder, H India.
Areas covered by H India’s interventions
include vector-borne diseases, HIV and
Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome
(AIDS), family planning and reproductive
health, maternal and child health, health
systems strengthening, integrated health
and development, and infectious diseases,
including TB. It has managed CSR
development projects for corporates, as well
as for WHO and e Global und to ight
AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (GATM).
‘H India makes sure that we involve
the community at various stages (planning,
implementation, evaluation, and redesign).
We adopt a participatory approach in the
entire project cycle so that the skills and
knowledge gained by the current groups of
communities are transferred and replicated
in other geographies in India. One of the key
strategies that H India uses in projects is to
create a large cadre of community volunteers
to ensure a trained pool of human resources
in the community even when the project
funding ends,’ explains Dr. Bitra George.
