Sustainable de
velopment and sustainable
livelihoods led by communities themselves
are the transformative thread in the NGOs
shortlisted for the ENVIRONMENTAL
category of the HCL Grant this year.
Enhancing access to information
about ecosystem restoration through
technology in Maharashtra; revitalizing
wetlands in Assam and sacred groves in
Karnataka; minimizing pollution through
community-based local action in forest-
fringe villages; holistic development of
people and the environment in remote
villages of Uttarakhand; regenerating
women’s traditional knowledge to conserve
biodiversity; long term conservation of
mega-animal species and habitats in
central India, and so much more – all these
initiatives work to fortify the delicate web
of life and resources on our planet.
